OCTAVIO CALDERON
Managing Director
Responsible for developing and leading Pinecrest Aero’s vision and strategy, as well as all commercial activities.
Octavio has 25 years in commercial aviation with industry experience in finance, risk management, and sales. Prior to co-founding Pinecrest Aero, Octavio was the founding member of Strategic Air Finance, successfully exiting after completing $200 million in aircraft leasing and trading transactions. His track record with Strategic Air Finance provided investors with financial returns well above market.
Octavio spent 11 years with GE Aviation and GECAS (GE Capital Aviation Services), beginning his career in treasury and risk management. During his tenure in GE Aviation, he was promoted from Risk Manager to Credit and Collections Manager and then Marketing and Sales Finance Director, leading teams in managing $9 billion in receivables and restructuring $350 million of debt from airlines and MRO companies. After his roles at GE Aviation, Octavio held GECAS positions as SVP Marketing and Sales - Latin America and SVP Cargo Programs. During his tenure with GECAS, Octavio led teams in over $2.5 billion in lease, purchase and sale transactions.
Octavio earned a Bachelor of Arts – Economics from the University of Cincinnati.
TOM CURTIS
Principal (Operations & Technical)
Focused on business operations, co-leading efforts to build and maintain Pinecrest Aero’s trading & leasing platform and portfolio of high-margin commercial aviation assets.
Tom has 30+ years of experience in commercial aviation, spanning engineering, sales & marketing, leasing, banking and operations. Prior to co-founding Pinecrest Aero, he was the founding-COO of Rostrum Leasing, a trading and leasing platform formed via the strategic acquisition and management of Southwest Airlines’ retired 737 Classic fleet; a total of 53 aircraft and 35 spare engines.
Tom’s previous roles spanned a broad spectrum of aviation, from P&L leadership as the President of the United Rotorcraft Division of Air Methods, the world’s largest air ambulance operator; to originating over $480 million in commercial aircraft loans as Vice President at a German Landesbank; as well as co-leading GMT Global’s highly profitable trading of $87 million in mid-life aircraft. Tom’s diverse professional accomplishments were built upon a 20-year foundation of technical, sales, marketing and leadership roles with both GE Aviation and GECAS.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Xavier University.
STACEY KERBER
Principal (Financial Analysis)
Responsible for all transaction and business performance financial analysis, as well as risk assessment and lease management.
Stacey is a senior transaction analyst with 20 years of experience in portfolio analysis and risk assessment for asset acquisition & management. She served most recently as Senior Financial Analyst for Rostrum Leasing, leading all transaction & business analysis, as well as key aspects of lease management for this portfolio of 53 aircraft and 35 engines.
Stacey previously served as Senior Transaction Analyst for Republic Financial, initially in their portfolio group evaluating business acquisition targets and portfolios of industrial equipment, and then as a key member of Republic Financial’s commercial aviation team analyzing the financial returns and risks of individual aircraft and portfolio acquisitions. Stacey began her career in private wealth management. Her experience also includes consultation in healthcare, specializing in statistical analysis of physician and hospital safety.
Stacey initially honed her leadership and communication skills when she served as Miss Colorado and competed in Miss America, the United States’ largest scholarship and leadership development program for young women. She earned a BS/BA in Business & Music, with a Spanish minor; and an MBA from the University of Denver.
GILBERTO PERALTA
Executive Advisor
Advises Pinecrest Aero on development of business strategy, capital markets and key industry relationships.
Gilberto has over 40 years of international business success spanning executive leadership roles in commercial aviation, helicopters, energy and logistics. He is currently the President of Airbus Group for Brazil, Chairman of the Board of Helibras (Airbus Helicopters Brazil) and Board Director of Azul Airlines. Gilberto also serves as Board Director for the Ascensus Group, a global leader in international logistics, distribution and energy markets.
Gilberto began his career with GE as an engineer at GE Aviation-Celma in Petropolis, Brazil, and advanced through senior roles with GE Aviation in Italy and the United States, before ultimately becoming GE Aviation’s Vice President for the company’s Airbus program in Toulouse, France. Gilberto was then appointed GE Capital Aviation Services’ General Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, based out of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In addition to the GECAS role, he was appointed CEO of GE Brazil, leading key strategic growth initiatives for the company and expanding GE’s historical partnership with the country.
Gilberto is a graduate of both Civil and Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of Petropolis, Brazil.
